Até transpor para o papel. | In the end we managed to overcome this "smiling faces" dissuasive barrier and got in. I was furious! Until I translated my anger into a humorous cartoon.

Mais um ano mais um exercício para a criatividade. A premissa é a mesma do ano passado (ver 1,2,3,4,5): um desenho por concerto que assistisse, idealizado no momento enquanto ouvisse. Aqui fica com um cheirinho do festival Paredes de Coura 2017. | Once again I attended Paredes de Coura music festival. And once again I engaged in the creativity exercise I had done last year (see 1,2,3,4,5): to do a drawing live per concert, that's the premise. I leave here the final handiwork for feedback.

It doesn't come as a surprise that Kate Tempest got the second best medal from WtMM's top 10. Yet, I'm still unsure that n.1 was all that better than her!
Vozes singulares. Ápice do festival, para mim. Era o meu dia de eleição, aquele por que ansiei. Mas saiu tudo furado, de um jeito espantoso - os artistas com que estava à esperar de vibrar ficaram aquém das terríveis expectativas, mas os com que eu não contava mexeram comigo. Foi emocionante. | Singular voices. The consummation of the festival, at least for me. This one was my day of election, the one I had yearned for. But it all came out flat in an amazing, unexpected, way... The artists that was expecting to jubilate with fell short of those terrible expectations, and those I wasn't counting on spoke to my heart. It was just thrilling!..
Vivi aqui o meu momento mais alto do festival.
Ao começo e, pelo que me pareceu imenso tempo, odiei. Tanto que a dado momento consultei o relógio para ver se já tinha passado muito tempo, na réstia de esperança que ao menos estivesse quase a terminar. Não! Está o caldo entornado - comecei a congeminar planos para sair dali. Até ter uma ideia de como resolver o desenho e, mais ou menos por essa altura, deu a volta. Virou. E adorei. E adorei. Senti ondas... Desenhei, dancei, senti ondas de emoção. Foi es-pe-cta-cu-lar! Que surpresa!.. Que bom!
During this concert I experienced my high point of the festival.
In the start and for what it seemed a long time, i really hated it. So much so, that at some point I looked at my watch to see if, at least, it was about to end. No such luck! Bugger - and I starting planning a way to get out of there. Until I had this idea of how to solve my drawing and, around that time, it shifted. It turned around. And I really loved it! I loved it! I felt waves... I drew, I danced, I felt waves of emotion. It was spe-cta-cu-lar! What a surprise!..
Dancei, dancei, dancei! Lá em baixo, no meio da multidão, sou aquela com uma lanterna ao pulso e a olhar para o caderno, enquanto danço para valer! | Dance, dance, dance! Amongst the crowd, I am the one looking at a little notebook, with a flashlight around my wrist, while dancing the night away...
Dia de absorver o festival na sua plenitude. Lugar sentado, cá em cima na relva, e ver tudo o que o espectáculo tem para oferecer - do som, às luzes, às árvores e ao céu estrelado. (Foi neste dia que fiz o desenho do palco que postei no primeiro dia da série). | I was sitting in the grass in the back, far from the stage, and experienced the shows at their fullest: the sound, the lights, the trees and the stellar sky! (The "stage" drawing I posted in the beginning of the series was done this day).
Este dia foi o meu dia de aquecimento. Em particular ao desenho de Unknown Mortal Orchestra gostaria de ter dado mais carácter - este foi para mim o segundo melhor concerto do festival. Estava eu a gozar da excepcional música quando o concerto terminou e eu tinha um esboço de rabisco! Ui! E agora?! | Warm up day for me! The one about the Unknown Mortal Orchestra fell short of the quality of the music. I believe this was the second best concert in the whole festival and I was so into it that when the time came and the music stopped I had less than a doodle!.

This music festival takes place in the Portuguese countryside near Paredes de Coura. Its mythic backdrop blends perfectly with the friendly atmosphere and the peachy music. Almost all sketches were made live, while enjoying the concerts. Enjoy!
