Where the Music Meets - PICKS FROM THE FROG e | and A MONTRA / THE WINDOW - Best of June

A humanidade da canção - "To Live and Die in New England" - de Terence Ryan caiu bem no meu campo de jogo. O videoclip (cinematografia de Ryan Sheetz com Ben Pacocha) complementa-a na perfeição. Não sabia como fazer justiça ao trabalho desta equipa. Aqui fica o desenho que fiz para o Where the Music Meets - PICKS FROM THE FROG - Best of June, em jeito de homenagem. O gozo de construir carimbos cravados em rolhas.          |        This song's humanity appealed to my sensibility, while its videoclip (cinematography by Ryan Sheetz and Ben Pacocha) perfectly complemented it. "To Live and Die in New England" by Terence Ryan was my choice of music for Where the Music Meets - PICKS FROM THE FROG - Best of June.  But how to be respectful of this team's work and still add an illustration to it? I made stamps out of corks, tried different papers and colours, listened to the song on repeat while working, and this is my tribute to it.

Não seria uma escolha óbvia para mim. Ainda assim, "Had some drinks" dos Two Feet cativou-me.  Os Where the Music Meets não podiam ter dito melhor, no PICKS FROM THE FROG - Best of May, quando disseram que o fez pelo seu som labiríntico. A elaboração desta ilustração seguiu um rasto instintivo.       |       Not my usual cup of tea. Still, this song managed to find its way into my world. Where the Music Meets say it best in PICKS FROM THE FROG - Best of May: it's labyrinthine feel crawls in. It's "Had some drinks" by Two Feet. The way I've assembled it couldn't have been more instinctive.

Quem conta um conto acrescenta um ponto. 

A colaboração que estabeleci o mês passado com o Where the Music Meets e A MONTRA / THE WINDOW expandiu-se! E tem um post novo: Best of April.       |         Last month I introduced an ongoing collaboration with two other blogs, Where the Music Meets and A MONTRA / THE WINDOW, from which we have a new post: Best of April. Be sure to check the full April selection! I'm glad that that story has turned another corner and expanded!

A nova rubrica no blog Where the Music Meets - PICKS FROM THE FROG - dá-me asas para ilustrar uma música à minha escolha... Não sem os editores do blog tratarem da moldura, tão importante como o seu conteúdo, traduzindo em palavras a magia da música. Noves fora (as tecnicidades), é uma grande alegria!         |        In the music blog Where the Music Meets you can find a new monthly post - PICKS FROM THE FROG - illustrated by me! Oh the joys! They find the perfect words to frame my picture and, voilá, a post about a music that I relate to. 

"Bruises", de Lewis Capaldi, foi a música responsável por tanto entusiasmo. Não o poria melhor que os editores do WtMM, que apelam (aqui) a ouvir a versão acústica melodia, onde a voz dá profundidade à melodia.          |        "Bruises", by Lewis Capaldi, was the one for me this month. WtMM editors express it best, here, where they urge you to hear the acoustic version, in which Lewis' voice "is the leader and the dreamer of the whole melody".

E como interações positivas são o melhor motivador, deram-me ânimo para por as mãos à obra e terminar este pequeno video, da construção do desenho eleito (abaixo).          |        And because positive feedback is the best instigator, I was eager to complete this little video on the making of (below).

E, para mim, o conto vai ficando melhor e melhor.

A MONTRA / THE WINDOW - Where the Music Meets - Best of March

Conceitos atractivos dão o triplo do prazer a desenvolver se o fazemos com aqueles de quem gostamos. Esta colaboração veio desse lugar bom.        |         Compelling concepts become much more enjoyable if we build them up with those we love. This collaboration came to fruition from that happy place.

A proposta é ilustrar a playlist mensal que o Where the Music Meets (lembram-se deles? ilustrei para eles nestes posts) faz para A MONTRA / THE WINDOW.         |         The project is to illustrate a monthly playlist  Where the Music Meets (remember them? I illustrated for them in these posts) puts together for A MONTRA / THE WINDOW. 

O primeiro blog, WtMM, já conhecemos, mas relembro - é um blog sobre música, indie maioritariamente, que procura dar a conhecer novos artistas e novos projectos de artistas desse universo musical. É pujante em ideias frescas e sonoridades contemporâneas. Uma sugestão para quando não sabem o que ouvir - criem o hábito de ir lá ver o que se passa, vale a pena!          |         You may be familiar with the former blog, aka WtMM, but I'll remind those of you who aren't what is it all about. It's a music blog, mainly focused on indie music, that values new artists in the genre and discloses new work from established performers. It is prosper in fresh ideas and contemporary sonorities. I'll give you a suggestion for when you don't know what to hear - make it a habit to go there and see what's going on, it's worth it!

A MONTRA / THE WINDOW é uma colaboração nova por estas bandas. Mas fiquei muito contente quando o caminho veio aqui dar, pois é uma abordagem que aprecio - é uma rede de curadoria sustentável! Traduzindo, um blog que expõe produtos e pontos de vista de pessoas cujo foco é sustentabilidade ambiental e social. Condiz comigo. Se quiserem saber mais, vejam aqui a mais eloquente explicação ou divaguem pelo blog.            |           The second one, A MONTRA / THE WINDOW, is a new collaboration for me. But I was very happy when our paths crossed, as it features content I relish - it is a sustainable curation network. This means they feature products and voice people whose focus is environmental and social sustainability. If you want to know more, see here a more eloquent definition or go through the blog.

Damos o mote com Best of March (Melhor de Março), uma selecção de 10 músicas em destaque das que foram publicadas nesse mês no WtMM.             |           Best of March is the first of these posts, and it comprises 10 songs selected from all of those published that month in the WtMM blog.

Eu ouvi-as todas e, se início tinha uma pequena (grande) lista de posts que estavam mesmo a pedir uma ilustração, no fim não consegui desligar do Bullets on parade do Noiserv. Criei uma ligação com esta música como com mais nenhuma. Não conseguia tirar o som da máquina fotográfica da cabeça - tem tudo a ver comigo, o som artesanal e a emoção da música. É simultaneamente nostálgica da minha infância e adulta. Ouvir este som infinitamente em repeat transportou-me para um estado de espírito sublime.              |            I heard all of them and I made a shortlist (a biglist really) of all the songs that were just screaming for an illustration. I couldn't get past Bullets on parade by Noiserv though. The sound of the camera stuck with me - I relate to it on a deeper level - it is both reminiscent of my childhood and evokes adult emotions. Also, I love the crafty element.  I heard this song on repeat ad infinitum and it transported me to a sublime state of mind.

O Noiserv tem um album mais recente - 00:00:00 - que se baseia no som do piano e que é frutuoso ouvir. A ideia é ser a banda sonora de um filme que ainda não existe. Saibam mais na entrevista que o WtMM lhe fez.             |          A more recent album by Noiserv is available, called 00:00:00. It is based on the piano and the concept behind it is a soundtrack of a film that doesn't exist yet. Be sure to know more about it in the interview WtMM has put together. 

É certo, as estrelas alinharam-se - foi, e é, uma alegria desfrutar desta ideia, de desenhar música, deles, dos blogs, da frequência mensal - tudo bate certo. O que mais posso querer? Para o mês há mais.            |          One thing is for sure, the stairs have aligned for this one. It was, and I hope it continues to be, a joyful idea - for me to draw music, for and with these people, in a monthly basis. What else can I wish for? April is next.
